James John Hagerman (1838-1909) was a resident of Newport, Michigan, who rose from a steamboat clerk to an officer in the Milwaukee Iron Company. The collection consists of memoirs describing Hagerman's activities in the iron industry of the Great Lakes region between 1860 and 1890.
